The challenge
A village-edge site south-east of Bath in a sensitive Somerset landscape, where new housing had to sit lightly and demonstrate genuine biodiversity and green-space benefit to win local and committee support.
Our approach
OG Urban Design led the outline scheme, submitted in February 2025, with accessible greenspace on the eastern side, native tree and shrub planting, a wildflower meadow and biodiversity enhancements woven through the layout rather than added at the edges.
Outcome
Somerset Council's planning committee resolved to approve the scheme in December 2025 — 35 homes with 30% affordable housing.
